Favorite graveyards? Yes, I have a couple. I think cemeteries are peaceful, beautiful places.
This Halloween time has felt reflective for me. Perhaps because it has been a year now, since my grandmother passed. I wonder how she is and what new adventures she has had over the last many months.
A walk among headstones is a nice way for me to find gratitude, not just for my own life, but for the lives of those I love. Our lifetimes overlap and that, in itself, is magical. Beyond that fact, we, all of us, will find our way into the great unknown. Then we too will know the mystery.
This Halloween, when ancient drums beat, guiding all of us into the cold, dark seasons, we are told that the veil between worlds is especially thin. Perhaps it is, but I didn’t feel spooked at all while wandering in these places, admittedly I did meditatively meander by light of day.
I am quite fond of Shakespeare’s so I will leave you with this…
“…For in that sleep of death what dreams may come, when we have shuffled off this mortal coil, must give us pause.” Hamlet-act III, scene 1, line 66.
What does Halloween make you think about?
